The Duke of Edinburgh's Award was set up in 1956 by the husband of the Queen of the U.K. It was set up to encourage the teenageers between 14 to 24 to take part in different activitieds and develop more hobies. That can also help teenagers to help each other and face problems more optimistically.
Last week, the Ulink students who take part in the Silver level of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award went to Suzhou Taihu Lake to do the two-day practical journey of cycling.
The team of journalists and reporters of Ulink Focus interviewed Mr.Paul who was the leader of the practical journey to learn more about it. Later we will continue report the other activities of DOE.

How were the students when they were in limit conditions?
The students need to follow the strict requirements according to Edinburgh’s competition.
During the training process, students aren't allowed to use thephone and buy anything using cash. They can only carry their own foods, waterand use own items during all of the activities. Also, the students can only campin outdoor and not allow to live in the hotel.
Do students have any difficulties riding the bike with backpacks?
For most of the students, there are many difficulties. Their bag packs are extremely heavy, and most of the students don’t have a rear frame. So, this means they need to carry the backpacks on their back. In addition, in the outdoor environments, they need to know how to upgrade the bicycle transmission for easily t go through the hill.
What did the students who finished the training achieve from it?
We have provided a variety of content to train, such as how to set up the tents and how to choose the places. They need to choose a flat place to have a tent, the four corners must be fixed to prevent wind and rain, also prevent animals. The students also need to learn how to use and read the compass, and using the map to choose which directions to go. Moreover, they also need to know how to repair the bicycle, how to adjust the bicycle seat, how to caution of using the brakes and transmission and some emergency repairs.
The students came from different classes. They may not have any chances to communicate a lot of in school time. This time, we divided into different groups. In this case, they need to integrate into their groups as soon as possible, which require the communication. During the Edinburgh’s competition, they need to be united. The first player is responsible for navigating and choose which directions to go, and the back of the players are responsible for make sure that every member doesn't leave the team.
